My journey with endometriosis started years before I ever received a diagnosis. I’ve been dealing with painful periods, bloating, nausea, migraines, and more since I was 13 — right from my very first period.

From that very first cycle, my mum and I began visiting doctors. We were told over and over again that it was "normal" to have painful periods. The only real solution I was offered was the pill and strong pain relief. I took them, but the painkillers stopped working after a while — my body became so used to them, they just didn’t help anymore.

It took me six years, multiple blood tests and ultrasounds, and at least five different doctors before one finally said, “It might be endometriosis.”

Even though we suspected it, hearing that word felt like the worst news of my life. At the time, there wasn’t much awareness or support around endo. All I knew was: there’s no cure, there’s not much help, and I’d likely struggle to have children. I cried for a week straight.

Eventually, I did the tests needed to get into a gynaecologist. He confirmed that it sounded like endometriosis and adhesions. I had to get an in-depth ultrasound and then go on a waiting list for surgery to officially diagnose and remove the endo and adhesions.

I was terrified of having surgery. From what I had started reading, it wasn’t a cure — I might need surgery every few years, and each one could lead to more scar tissue. Since the waitlist was long (over a year!), I decided to look into how I could support my body naturally in the meantime.

I started learning about inflammation and how red meat can contribute to it. I had already been seeing a naturopath who discovered that I was intolerant to dairy and eggs. She also gave me a herbal blend that helped ease some of my symptoms. So I decided to try a vegan diet.

Funny timing — as soon as I made that decision, my body suddenly couldn’t handle meat at all. I got grossed out by it, which really sucked considering I worked at a steakhouse at the time! 😂

I kept adjusting. I had more smoothies and supplements. I removed chemicals from my house, swapped out all my period products for organic cotton pads, and stopped using anything I had to insert.

I finally had my ultrasound and was told I’d hear from my gynaecologist soon. But before that happened… I found out I was pregnant for the first time.

That pregnancy sadly ended in miscarriage (you can read more about that in another blog post), but I did go on to conceive naturally three more times — and had two beautiful, healthy pregnancies and births.

Now, a few years later, I still experience some symptoms, but they’re so much more manageable. I’m constantly learning and doing what I can to support my body and live a more comfortable, empowered life.

This is also where my brand comes in — the products I create are based on what helped me support my symptoms, get pregnant naturally, and feel more like myself again.
