Simple, nourishing, and part of my natural conception journey with endometriosis

If you've read my story about how I conceived 4 times naturally with endometriosis, you’ll know I’m a big believer in supporting the body with gentle, consistent routines. One thing I kept coming back to — no matter how chaotic life got — was this smoothie.

I started calling it my “fertility smoothie” because I noticed a pattern: every time I had this smoothie regularly, I’d fall pregnant a few months later.
Now, I’m not saying this smoothie is magic, but it definitely played a part in nourishing my body, balancing my hormones, and supporting my gut and liver — all things that matter when it comes to fertility.

So here it is — the smoothie that became a daily ritual for me.

✨ The Fertility Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • ½ cup frozen pineapple

  • Ginger to taste (fresh or powdered — I usually use a thumb-sized piece)

  • ½ tsp mace powder (a warming spice to support circulation)

  • ½ tsp green spirulina powder

  • 1 tsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp hemp seeds

  • 1 tsp ground flaxseeds (or flaxseed meal)

  • ¼ cup oat milk

  • ¾ cup coconut water

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used a vegan pea protein)

  • A handful of fresh spinach

💛 Why These Ingredients?

Each ingredient was chosen for a reason — not just taste, but purpose.

  • Banana & pineapple – Natural sweetness + bromelain (in pineapple) can support inflammation and digestion.

  • Ginger – A powerful anti-inflammatory that supports circulation and soothes the gut.

  • Mace powder – A lesser-known spice related to nutmeg, believed to improve blood flow and warmth — which can be helpful for reproductive health.

  • Spirulina – A nutrient-dense algae packed with minerals, iron, and antioxidants to support overall wellness and energy.

  • Chia, hemp, and flaxseeds – These are rich in omega-3s, fiber, and hormone-balancing fats.

  • Spinach – Full of iron, folate, and important antioxidants for fertility.

  • Coconut water & oat milk – Hydration and gentle plant-based calcium and minerals.

  • Pea protein – Easy to digest, vegan, and a great way to keep you full and fuelled without blood sugar spikes.

🌿 How I Made It

I threw it all in a blender, gave it a good blitz, and that was it.
Some days I’d prep the ingredients into freezer bags for the week ahead — just grab, blend, and go.

I had it every morning — sometimes even as a snack in the afternoon. It was easy, nourishing, and something I actually looked forward to.

☕ A Quick Note on Coffee

I didn’t give up coffee completely, but I did swap my morning coffee for dandelion root tea. It’s naturally supportive of the liver and digestion, and felt like a more grounding start to my mornings. I still enjoyed my coffee later in the day when I really felt like it — no guilt, just balance.

💬 A Note From Me to You

If you’re on your own fertility journey, this smoothie is a gentle way to nourish your body without overcomplicating things. Use it as a base and tweak it to suit your needs — you can add greens, swap out fruits, or use different plant milks depending on what works for you.

And remember: food is just one part of the picture. This smoothie worked alongside the other changes I made — like supporting my liver, tracking my cycle, reducing stress, and listening to my body.

I hope it becomes a little part of your routine like it did mine.
You deserve to feel supported, nourished, and hopeful.
